Durham Cricket Foundation takes part in the GNR

Durham Cricket Foundation will take part in the Great North Run as organisers confirmed that the half marathon event goes ahead as “a fitting tribute to the Queen”.

The Foundation’s team of eight runners will join 60.000 others who will take on the 41st Great North Run in honour and celebration of the life and service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The charity will pay its respect and express condolences to the Royal Family by running its fifth Great North Run which will be taking place in a “subdued” form on Sunday, 11th September.

Durham Cricket Foundation is one of many charities which depends on donations raised at the Newcastle to South Shields half marathon, with the charity’s runners fundraising towards the Foundation’s project at the Great North Children’s Hospital.

The project, which works with children undergoing long-term care through delivering a sports and educational programme, will go into its third year later this month and raised funds will ensure that the initiative can continue to deliver impact to patients through sport.

The Foundation would like to thank Jessica Adams, Darren Brown, Paul Iredale, David Lamb, Emma Lusardi, Jamie Robson, Matthew Willis, Charlie Winn for their participation in representing the Durham Cricket Foundation this year.

Cricket Development Officer at Durham Cricket Darren Brown will be running under the banner of the Foundation and in support of his club – Willington Cricket Club – for the 4th consecutive year. The Foundation extends its regards to Darren for his commitment.
