Durham Cricket Foundation Runners Take on the AJ Bell Great North Run in Support of its Great North Children’s Hospital project

Durham Cricket Foundation will be proudly represented at this year’s Great North Run on Sunday 7 September, with a dedicated team of runners taking on the iconic half marathon to raise vital funds for its project at the Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH).

A total of 11 runners will be lacing up their trainers for the Foundation, showing their commitment both on and off the running track to making a difference to young patients and their families during difficult times.

The Foundation delivers weekly sessions to children undergoing long-term care and through interactive sports and educational sessions, the project is giving patients something positive to look forward to.

Speaking about the upcoming half marathon, Graeme Weeks Chief Executive Officer of Durham Cricket Foundation said: “We are incredibly grateful to our runners who are taking on this challenge for such an important cause for us. The project we deliver in the hospital is giving young patients some fun and excitement to brighten their day, and parents – support through tough times.

“We are really committed to continuing this project and the support we receive through the Great North Run will help to make it possible.

“Having the support of runners who believe in this project as much as we do is fantastic. I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication from everyone running under our banner.

“I wish them all good luck – the Foundation will be cheering them on Sunday.”

The runners taking part are: James Coxon, Marsha Davies, Adam Fuller, Rachele Hayter, Carl Kelly, James Paley, Chris Ralston, Craig Symington, Megan Turnock, Chris Borrowdale and Olly Spark.

The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, attracting over 60,000 participants from across the globe. For the Durham Cricket Foundation, it represents not only a sporting challenge but also an important opportunity to help ensure the project continues to deliver impact to more children and more families.
