Durham Cricket Foundation Joins Forces with Lottery Partners NYCDA

Durham Cricket Foundation is excited to announce a new partnership with the National Youth & Community Development Association (NYCDA) launching a community-focused lottery initiative to support the Foundation’s work across the North East.

After many years of the Howzat lottery running in partnership with the Club, the draw is being transferred to Durham Cricket Foundation, making the Foundation its sole beneficiary.

From now on every ticket purchased in the NYCDA Weekly Draw will be helping Durham Cricket’s official charity to deliver community-led initiatives that use the power of cricket and crafts to develop the sport and support people.

Supporters can play for a chance to win £1,000 in cash and non-cash prizes – all while helping fund inclusive cricket programmes, thriving grassroots clubs and building healthier, more connected communities.

Graeme Weeks, Chief Executive of the Foundation said: “We’re excited to be joining forces with NYCDA. This partnership is not only a fantastic way for our supporters to win cash prizes, it’s also a chance to make a real impact across County Durham and the North East. Every entry helps us do more.”

Mark Brocklehurst of NYCDA added: “We are delighted to be working with Durham Cricket Foundation on this fundraising initiative and create a new way to support the great work they do.”

The draw takes place every Wednesday, giving supporters an affordable way to support and get involved, with entries costing just £1 per week.

Not only does this give the Foundation access to vital additional resources, but players will also be in with a chance to win a regular £1,000 jackpot, along with prizes of £100, £50, £25 and 10 x £10, plus a variety of exciting non-cash prizes throughout the year.

A New Era for Durham Cricket Foundation

In 2024, the Durham Cricket Foundation entered a new era, uniting the former Foundation and Durham Cricket Board under a single mission: to bridge the power of sport with the real needs of the community.

Funds raised through the NYCDA Weekly Draw will go directly into focus programme areas aligned with the Foundation’s five-year strategy. These include:

· Supporting over 100 grassroots cricket clubs and developing new opportunities for young people to get involved

· Expanding inclusive cricket programmes for women, girls, people with disabilities and South Asian communities

· Delivering health and wellbeing initiatives like Walking Cricket, creative arts groups and work with the Great North Children’s Hospital

· Growing community projects to tackle social isolation, promote mental health and strengthen local communities and connection
