Durham Cricket announce partnership with Visit County Durham

Durham Cricket is delighted to announce a new partnership with destination management organisation Visit County Durham.

The new partnership between both organisations will promote County Durham as inspiring visitors from within the region to choose the county for a day visit or staycation and with Durham Cricket being the international sporting venue in our county, this collaboration further demonstrates the reason to choose Emirates Riverside for a visit to watch first-class cricket.

Following the global success of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup hosted in Chester le Street last summer, Durham Cricket are now pleased to be able to work alongside Visit County Durham as we look to increase the profile of a first-class cricket facility in the heart of the region.

As both organisations join together in partnership, the Visit County Durham logo has been printed on the sleeve of Durham’s red ball kit, which has been worn throughout the summer during Durham Cricket’s Bob Willis Trophy campaign – with advertising boards positioned in the ground at Emirates Riverside.

This marks the first stage of activity to get tourism back on track by attracting summer visitors and extending demand into autumn, after the visitor economy was significantly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, with Durham Cricket supporting Visit County Durham’s ‘Worth the Wait’ campaign as tourists are encouraged to return to Durham to assist in the recovery of the county’s visitor economy following the coronavirus 19 pandemic.

Michelle Gorman, managing director at Visit County Durham, said: “Following the global success of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup hosted in Durham last summer, it’s great to continue that partnership with Durham Cricket to raise the profile of Durham’s fantastic live sporting offer.”

Durham Cricket, marketing director, David Jackson added: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Visit County Durham. This partnership is exciting for both organisations as we look to promote Durham and demonstrate what the county has to offer as a tourist destination.”
