Durham CCC v Yorkshire CCC Day Two

Mark Davies went in as night watchman but became Rashid’s second victim in as many balls.  At the close of play, Durham were 54-3 with Di Venuto (30*) and Dale Benkenstein, who had been struggling with a knee problem, 4*.

At the close of play durhamccc.co.uk spoke to Head Coach Geoff Cook, “Yorkshire have played some good four day cricket, right from ball one.  Their aim will have been to get a big score on the board and they’ve done that very efficiently.

“The seamers bowled well in patches, everybody had some good spells.  I thought that Chris Rushworth was really encouraging and it was a good work out for Borthwick aswell.  Yesterday Blackwell did the job in terms of containment but they got their heads down to try and bat for as long as possible.

“For Will to be out and then for Mark to follow is psychologically something we have to be ready to take on tomorrow morning.  We’ve got two fellows at the crease who have done it before and I’m sure they’ll be trying to do it again.”
