Wednesday the 10th of April marks the start of the 2013 LV=County Championship season and fresh off the back of their 21st Birthday Celebrations, Durham CCC face Somerset CCC here at the Emirates Durham ICG.
It has been a cold and long winter with the lads restricted to mainly indoor practice and the gym, however over the last few weeks have been able to get some valuable outdoor practice.
The team may not have had as many pre-season games as they would have liked. Though their recent matches against Durham University have provided a real test and much needed match practice ahead of the new season.
Head Coach Geoff Cook has had a full squad to pick from and LV=County Championship captain Paul Collingwood returns to lead the side for the first time in 2013.
A lot of talk over the pre-season has surrounded giving youth a chance at Emirates Durham, and Cook has named a side with a good blend of youth and experience as Durham begin their LV=County Championship challenge.
