Durham CCC launches Durham County Cricket Foundation

The Durham County Cricket Foundation (Registered Charity No 1127721) is the vehicle through which Durham County Cricket Club will deliver its programmes in the local community.

The charity uses the power of professional sport, in particular cricket, to provide inspiration and motivation and to raise self-esteem in the North East community.

The work of the Durham County Cricket Foundation is based upon five activity pillars of Health, Education, Social Cohesion, Grassroots Sport and Club Development.  All programmes are aimed at delivering excellence and have been designed in consultation with experts in each field; each is designed as a response to a clearly identified need.

All of the programmes will utilise the unique resources available to Durham County Cricket Club  including; our world class Riverside stadium, match day activity, professional cricketers as role models and the profile and excitement of international cricket and Twenty20 cricket in the North  East.

Durham County Cricket Foundation Manager, Mark Foster, said;

“The Durham County Cricket Foundation will give Durham County Cricket Club the opportunity to get more actively involved in the local area.  Through using our resources in this way we believe we can make a massive difference to the delivery of community programmes in the region.  We are delighted that  Esh Charitable Trust has pledged its support as our Main Community Partner.”

Brian Manning speaking on behalf of Esh Charitable Trust, added;

“We are very pleased to be supporting the Durham County Cricket Foundation.  We believe its aims and objectives are absolutely in line with those of the Esh Charitable Trust – to support vulnerable people and young people through education, healthy living, skills development and community regeneration initiatives.  We hope that together we can make significant difference to many people across the North East.”
