Durham announce squad for MCC match

A thirteen man squad has been selected to travel which includes Ian Blackwell who will make his Durham debut.

Head Coach Geoff Cook said, “To start our 2009 campaign against the MCC at Lord’s as the Champion County is something we have been looking forward to and it will certainly be something to remember for the lads that represent us and for our supporters.  The MCC team is an especially strong one so we’re expecting stiff competition.

“It’s a great for Ian Blackwell that his Durham career starts with such a prestigious match.  Graham Onions and Mitch Claydon put in some excellent bowling performances during the pre season tour so are looking to continue that form.”
Paul Collingwood is preparing for his stint playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL and Stephen Harmison is being rested by the ECB, both therefore are unavailable for selection.  Mark Davies (XX) is expected to return to action in the next few weeks after sustaining an injury during the England Lions Tour of New Zealand earlier in the year.
