Durham 2XI win in 50 over Yorkshire friendly

Yorkshire pushed on to 147 before Breese picks up a scalp thanks to an effective stumping by Michael Richardson.  Will Smith picked up an lbw in the 41st over with the hosts total at 181. Keaton Jennings picked up the third wicket, caught by Rushworth at mid-on,  as Yorkshire tried to accelerate in the late overs (192-4).

With the spinners giving control to the runs scored in the middle section of the innings Yorkshire ended their 50 overs with 235-6 on the board with three wickets in total going to Brathwaite, including a cracking delivery that knocked the middle stump out of the ground in the 48th over.

In response, Durham Second XI were 27-2 in the ninth over with Will Smith and Richardson both caught in the slips.  Kyle Coetzer and Ben Harmison built a solid foundation and both passed fifty before the former was out lbw with Durham 166-3 with 70 runs required from 11 overs.

The visitors lost captain Gareth Breese in the 42nd over when he top edges a sweep and is caught in the deep.  Durham needed 37 to win off six overs when Harmison was caught behind and then Ben Raine was stumped as the order wobbled slightly.   Two further quick wickets fell but with Durham requiring 13 off two overs the tail managed to see the side home to win by two wickets.

Full scorecard will be available in due course.
