Durham trio Alex Lees, Mady Villiers and Bess Heath made their mark in the Canada Super 60, with all three enjoying productive campaigns in the tournament’s explosive short-form format held at BC Place, Vancouver.
Lees was the standout performer, producing a series of eye-catching displays for the Mississauga Masters.
Durham’s T20 captain finished with 185 runs from six innings, averaging 37 and striking at 272.06. Lees registered two half-centuries, including a tournament-best 70, while smashing 19 sixes across the short form tournament.
Lees rounded off the tournament as Mississauga Masters’s leading run scorer ahead of George Munsey and David Wiese.
For Villiers, the tournament provided an opportunity to showcase both her all-round ability and leadership qualities.
Mady captained Toronto Sixers and played an important role as the side recovered from an opening defeat to mount a challenge for the title, suffering a seven wicket defeat to Vancouver Warriors in their first match.
Her most memorable contribution came against the Vancouver Anchors, when she struck 18 from just seven deliveries and was named Player of the Match after Toronto secured a 21-run victory.
Heath, meanwhile, was one of Toronto’s most reliable performers with the bat. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 65 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 185.71, with her best performance coming in the eliminator against Vancouver.
She struck an unbeaten 37 from only 18 balls, including five fours and a six, to help Toronto progress to the finals. She also made her mark behind the stumps, collecting four dismissals during the competition.
