Ds Abroad: Brydon Carse continues to star for England; Luke Robinson and Abi Glen impress with the ball

With pre-season now underway many of the Durham squad are spending their winter in sunnier climates playing overseas.

A regular feature on the Durham website throughout the winter will be recapping how the Durham players get on.

Brydon Carse continued to star with the ball in England’s white ball tour of New Zealand. Carse dismissed Kane Williamson first ball as he claimed 3/45 in 10 overs in a four-wicket defeat to the Kiwis after England were dismissed for 223 in the opening ODI at Mount Maunganui.

Luke Robinson and Daniel Hogg faced off in Perth as Robinson’s Swan Valley side hosted Western Suburbs in the opening two-day encounter of the Australian season.

Swan Valley made 270/9 before declaring in the 68th over with Hogg bowling 13 overs for Western Suburbs, Robinson adding 12 not out. Robinson then struck three times in a deadly opening spell claiming 3/19 in five overs as the visitors were reduced to 41/4 before close of play on the first day, with the second day set to be played on Saturday 1 November.

Abi Glen shone with the ball for South Perth picking up three wickets in their seven-wicket victory over Wanneroo. Glen struck early before returning with two wickets at the death to claim figures of 3/16 as the hosts were restricted to 120/9 with South Perth completing their chase with four balls remaining.
