Dixon in line for Durham debut

Loan signing Matt Dixon is set for his Durham debut at Derbyshire tomorrow after being named in a 13-man squad for the Specsavers County Championship match at The 3aaa County Ground.

Dixon, who signed from Essex this morning on a month’s loan, is set for his 13th first-class appearance as Jon Lewis’s side go in search of back-to-back wins after Monday’s thrilling victory over Leicestershire.

The 25-year-old is likely to link up with former Western Australia team mate Nathan Rimmington, who has featured in Durham’s opening fixtures.

As revealed on Tuesday, Mark Wood has returned to the side & will play as he aims to get himself into contention for the upcoming two match Test series with Pakistan.

James Weighell will complement the seam bowling unit after his career-best efforts against the Foxes.

Chris Rushworth (groin) & Barry McCarthy (shoulder) miss out through injuries sustained in that game. Both have undergone tests to determine the length of their absences.

It is also set to be Aiden Markram’s final appearance for the Club before returning to South Africa. The opener contributed a classy knock of 94 to lead the fightback against Leicestershire.

George Harding & Gareth Harte are both named in the squad & have left the Second XI’s ongoing match against Yorkshire.
