DCCC Bowler Chris Rushworth Does Dry 2014

Durham CCC Bowler Chris Rushworth has set himself a huge personal challenge to give up alcohol for a year to raise much needed funds for Save the Children UK and the PCA Benevolent Fund.

Rushworth quoted “I wanted to really challenge myself and noticed a lot of my friends were attempting Dry January so I decided to go one huge step further.  Giving up alcohol for a whole year for anyone male or female is a challenge, but I am determined to stick with it and raise thousands of pounds.  With all the adverse Neknomination publicity I also wanted to send out a positive message to young people in the region too”.

Rushworth is planning a series of events throughout 2014 including sportsman dinners and charity auctions starting 10th April with a Pie & Pea supper with Micky Gray and Bobby Saxton, plus an evening with Ryan Sidebottom of Yorkshire CCC and Steve Harmison (formerly Durham CCC) already planned on Saturday 3rd May.

Abi Robertson, Community Events Fundraiser from Save the Children said “We are thrilled to have Chris’ support and are impressed not only with his fundraising idea, but his commitment to making a real difference by fundraising over the whole of 2014. We are especially proud of the underlying message about alcohol to young people. We look forward to seeing his successes over the coming year”.
