Davies: I am glad to be back

We spoke to Mark Davies during the downpour, “It’s a long day waiting around for the rain to stop but after a tough day yesterday it does give you some time to collect your thoughts and get going again.  It’s been a tough year for me personally, what with having the injuries and trying to get back.

“To just get back to being somewhere near to playing and then breaking down again made it very tough but I’m really glad to be back and hopefully I can contribute some sort of performances towards the end of the season.  It was good to be back out there.

“It’s been frustrating watching results not go our way from the sidelines, it just makes you want to try and get back as quickly as possible so you can try and do your bit out there.  I hate being injured and I was as keen as ever to try and get back out there as soon as possible.

“I’m still waiting for that first wicket, it’s tough to have not picked one up yet especially when you’re used to having picked up a few poles along the way.  All I can do is keep doing the basics and doing what I’ve done in the last ten years at Durham and hopefully it’ll all come good and when it does, the wickets will come in bag full’s.

“Economically, my figures have been good, I’ve been tying down one end and that’s my role in the team, if the wickets come along too, then that’s great.  I’ve got to bowl as many dot balls as possible and put pressure on.  I’ve still got a lot to give the team.

There’s still time for a result in this match – obviously, losing a day makes it hard work but they’re going to be pushing aswell so that opens up a few chances so hopefully we can capitalise.”
