Daniel Hogg signs one-year extension through to 2028

Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that Daniel Hogg has signed a one-year contract extension with the Club, running until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Hogg made his name taking figures of seven for 66 on his first-class debut against Nottinghamshire at Banks Homes Riverside in August 2024.

The towering seamer has since gone on to claim 17 wickets in eight County Championship appearances with his latest Durham outing against Yorkshire at Headingley in September 2025.

Hogg has been a regular throughout the Durham pathway and Academy system, progressing from the Durham under-13s team into the professional set up.

Following a 2026 campaign where the 21-year-old struggled with side and wrist injuries, Hogg will spend the coming winter playing club cricket for Swanbourne in Perth, Australia ahead of the 2027 season.

The 21-year-old’s current contract was due to expire at the end of the 2027 season and has now agreed new terms running until at least the end of the 2028 season.

On his extension, Hogg said: “I’m so pleased to sign an extension with Durham, the past few years have been tough with lots of injuries.

“To sign an extension without much time on the pitch was pretty surprising but also good to know that Cambo is backing me.

“I am very much looking forward to the next couple of years with Durham as we strive for further success.”

Ryan Campbell, Director of Cricket and High-Performance Coaching said: “Dan had a really impressive breakthrough season a couple of years ago but unfortunately has suffered a few injuries since then meaning he hasn’t been on the park as much as he would have liked.

“He has continued to work really hard in the gym, and we know how much potential he has at 21-years old.

“I believe he deserves this extension giving him another two years to work on his game and develop as a cricketer, which will hopefully see positive rewards over the next few years.

“With another season playing in Australia, we hope to see him back fit and firing ahead of the 2027 season and competing for a place in our 11.”
