Collingwood to represent MCC

Durham captain Paul Collingwood will represent the MCC in the Champion County match against Essex on 27-30 March.

Collingwood will be captained by Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond in the annual season curtain-raiser, which takes place in Barbados at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown for the first time.

The match follows on from the North-South series, with Collingwood coaching the North side in the three-match, 50-over series.

It will again be played with a pink ball under floodlights, as had previously been the case in Abu Dhabi.

Collingwood will be joined by Bajan & former West Indies quick Fidel Edwards, Sam Northeast & George Garton in the side.

MCC Head of Cricket, John Stephenson, said: “We are lucky to have Paul Collingwood and Fidel Edwards with us who are vastly experienced players at both international and domestic level.”
