Six wickets for James Minto while Colin Ackermann and Haydon Mustard score centuries as Durham Second XI enjoy convincing three-day friendly win over the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA).

After being put into bat at the Racecourse, Owen Harwood (24) and Sam Conners (26) got Durham off to steady start sharing 46 for the opening wicket.

A pair of quick wickets for Hassan Mughal had the hosts 54/2 before a three-wicket burst from O Akram put Durham on the back foot at 79/5.

James Minto led the rebuild with an unbeaten 49 which included six boundaries helping Durham to 179 with Luke Robinson adding 20 alongside him for a tenth-wicket partnership worth 46.

Akram’s four wickets led the way for SACA while Mugal and Kumar contributed two each.

Wickets continued to fall on the opening day with a further five before the close of play as Daniel Hogg removed the top three batters while Minto struck twice in the 27th over to leave SACA 95/5.

The visitors responded the following morning in a 69-run sixth-wicket stand but once Amogh Karpe was dismissed on 62, wickets came quickly.

George Drissell and Luke Robinson picked up a pair of scalps each before Shafiqullah Ghafari trapped Mughal lbw to leave Durham only five runs in the arrears bowling SACA out for 184.

Colin Ackermann and Haydon Mustard then both put Durham in a commanding position heading into day three with both scoring centuries.

Ackermann made 104 from 151 balls featuring eight fours and one maximum, reaching three figures from 141 balls as he shared a partnership worth 179 alongside Mustard.

Mustard’s milestone came from 162 balls before going to score 119 with six fours and four sixes.

Ghafari blasted four sixes and two fours in a 46-ball 52 as the Ds pushed on to reach 341/8 before declaring with a lead of 336.

Durham were brutal with the ball to finish the game off, cleaning up the visitors for just 89.

Minto was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/24 while Drissell claimed 3/27. Robinson took two wickets while Ghafari wrapped up the match as Durham claimed a 247-run victory.
