The banner is really beginning to gather momentum catching people’s memories, ideas and images of everything to do with Durham County Cricket Club. The banner design includes many images of bats, balls stumps 6’s 4’s and umpires, graffiti style, but is starting to fall, broadly, into three areas. One third of the 22 yards of material has images involved with the history of the club since 1882, including trophies won, a colourful picture of the Racecourse Ground in Durham and names of key players. The middle third, with Lumley Castle proudly in the centre, takes inspiration from the 2013 season, including various players and, naturally, the County Championship trophy. The right hand third celebrates the international side of the club (now including Danielle’s signature) the ground staff (there is already an impressive image of Dave Measor atop his roller) and the work of the Foundation.
Durham County Cricket Foundation would like as many people as possible to be involved with this project. Each Wednesday throughout August the group is meeting in the Media and Education building from 1:30-3:30pm and anyone who is interested in the project is welcome.
On Tuesday 12th August, during the Royal London One Day Cup match against Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Caught and Sewed will be in the Castle View Suit from 12 noon – 2:30pm. If you enjoy stitching, have a idea of something you think should be included or would just like to come and see what the project is all about then please come along.
