Back to Red Ball Cricket as Durham host Derbyshire

After playing just T20 cricket the past two weeks the attention will now focus back to the LV=County Championships with Durham hosting Derbyshire at Emirates Durham ICG starting Monday.

The last match Durham played in the championships was a thriller with the side cementing third spot on the Championships table with a victory over Warwickshire in three days.

Durham will be again looking for maximum points as they face the winless Derbyshire (43.0) who sit on the bottom of the table and are 65.5 points behind Durham who are on 109.5 points.

Durham have a couple of big outs with Captain Paul Collingwood still unfit to play after a laceration to his thumb in the t20 match at Scarborough last Sunday and in-form paceman Graham Onions selected in the England 13-man Ashes Squad for the First Test.  In Collingwood’s absence, One-Day Captain Mark Stoneman will lead the 4-day side.

Gordon Muchall, who has been in good touch with the bat in One-Day and t20 cricket comes into the 13-man squad alongside paceman Jamie Harrison whilst Gareth Breese who returned from injury in the t20’s this week-end has also been included in the squad.
