Durham’s Second XI recorded another set of T20 victories with a double against Worcestershire’s second string at Stourbridge CC.
Neil Killeen’s side have still been beaten in just one T20 fixture this season after two convincing wins yesterday.
Left arm spinner Gurman Randhawa impressed in both games, taking eight wickets across the day, while Stuart Poynter and Gordon Muchall struck half centuries in either game.
It leaves the side in great shape ahead of their second Championship game of the season, starting today.
The first victory was an astute and well-timed chase, the second an easy defence after posting 198/4 from their 20 overs.
The hosts looked well set on 97/3 inside 12 overs in the first game, with Tom Fell opening his shoulders, until Randhawa removed him for 37.
From there they were unable to bat out their overs as only one of the remaining batsman made double figures.
Randhawa completed figures of 4/20, George Harding struck once with the final two batsmen both run out.
Chasing 140 to win, Durham timed their chase to perfection and eased to a five-wicket win with eight balls remaining.
Irishman Poynter anchored the chase with 65 from 39 balls, including 7x4s and 1×6, while others batted around him.
In the second game, Muchall provided the anchor with 77 from 47 balls as they racked up 198.
Adam Hickey provided ample support in a 81-run opening partnership at almost a run a ball while Poynter also made 27.
But the real impetus came through Muchall before captain James Weighell finished off the innings with a pair of sixes.
Three quick wickets immediately put the hosts on the back foot, though there was a brief recovery through Freddie Coleman and Alex Milton.
A spectacular collapse, once again led by Randhawa, then ensued as Worcestershire dropped from 132/4 to 143 all out.
He took four, Harding picked up two while the last man was run out 55 runs short of Durham’s total.
