Ajaz Patel in 13 player squad for Yorkshire County Championship fixture

After a break in the County Championship Durham return to red ball action tomorrow when they take on Yorkshire at Seat Unique Riverside.

Ryan Campbell has named a 14 player-squad for the visit of Yorkshire which includes two new additions to the fold.

New Zealand left arm orthodox spinner Ajaz Patel has now arrived ready for his Durham spell and will make his first-class debut for Durham tomorrow.

Bas de Leede has recovered from the ankle injury he sustained in Zimbabwe and is now in contention to make his Durham first-class debut.

Paul Coughlin has dropped out of the squad having sustained a trunk injury during the Derbyshire fixture.

Campbell’s side go into the Yorkshire game on the back of a dominant win against Derbyshire last time out, winning inside three days.

Durham currently sit top of the Division 2 table with 63 points having won two, lost one and drew one and face a Yorkshire side who are in sixth place in the division with 29 points.

Words from Scott Borthwick

Playing Yorkshire is always a massive game for us, so nothing changes tomorrow. It has always been a huge game right from Under 11s right up to the 1st team, so we are excited to get going tomorrow.

If you look at both Durham and Yorkshire squads on paper, you would think it is a Division 1 fixture so I think it should take quite a bit of interest this week and be a good one for the fans.

Yorkshire are a very strong side, if you look, they have Shan Masood back to captain them and Jonny Bairstow is back and will be wanting to score big runs this week.

However, we have started the season very well, we will be positive and are excited to be at home again tomorrow, we are in a good place and backing ourselves to win this game.

Squad v Yorkshire (11-14 May)

David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick*, Brydon Carse, Graham Clark, Bas de Leede, Michael Jones, Alex Lees (vc), Stanley McAlindon,  Ajaz Patel, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Ollie Robinson+, Liam Trevaskis,
