A Win and Draw for Durham 2nd XI

On Tuesday South Northumberland CC held host to a forty over freindly followed by a fifty over friendly on Wednesday.

On Tuesday Yorkshire upon winning the toss put Durham into bat. After losing openers Stoneman and Turner with only 11 on the board captain Gordon Muchall and Ben Harmison put on a partnership of 127. Attempting to increase the run rate Muchall fell for 75 and Harmison for 48 as Durham closed on 170-7.

Following three early wickets for seamer Mark Davies, Gerard Brophy (64) and C Roebuck (58) guided Yorkshire home for the loss of only 3 wickets with 13 balls to spare.

Wednesday saw a 50 over a side match with Durham winning the toss and electing to field. Killeen and Rushworth picked up both openers for 0 as Durham picked up the first 4 wickets for only 19 runs. A partnership of 123 between Wainwright and Brophy helped stabilise the Yorkshire innings before the last 6 wickets fell for 57 runs. Chris Rushworth and Will GIdman finishing with three wickets each.

An opening partnership of 75 between Stoneman (28) and Turner (42) set the platform with contributions from Breese (46) and Gidman (35) guiding Durham home to a six wicket win with two overs remaining.
