2XI beat Sussex in 40 over and 3 dayer

In the forty over game played on Friday Sussex won the toss and elected to bat first.  They were all out for 214 with Ben Harmison picking up 4-34 off his eight overs.

In response Gordon Muchall (88 off 107 balls) and Scott Borthwick (44 off 39 balls) put on 81 in 68 balls for the 6th wicket pushing Durham close to the total.  Then, Ryan Pringle came in and hit two fours in the final over to get Durham over the line, sealing victory with two balls to spare.

For the three day friendly the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first – a superb seven wicket haul from Gareth Breese saw Sussex dismissed for 250 in their first innings.

Will Gidman starred with the bat, adding 133 to Durham’s total and Breese’s good form continued as he contributed 73 with the bat.  The visitors established a lead of 139, having been bowled out for 389. 

At the close of day two Sussex were 58-3 in response, still 71 behind, with Borthwick, Killeen and Wood each picking up a wicket.

The three day game was won by nine wickets with Mark Stoneman  (48*) and Gordon Muchall (30*) chasing down the runs in the second innings.
