15 in contention as Durham travel to Leeds for final match of 2025 season

Durham travel to neighbours Yorkshire tomorrow in the final round of Rothesay County Championship action starting at 10:30am.

Ryan Campbell’s side head to Leeds looking to remain in Division One of the County Championship as the domestic red ball summer reaches its climax.

Durham sit second bottom of the Division One table with 140 points, just two points behind eighth place Hampshire and six behind Yorkshire who sit in seventh.

Campbell has named an unchanged squad of 15 from last week’s draw against Worcestershire, as Durham claimed maximum batting points in a drawn rain affected final home match of the season.

Archie Bailey remains in contention to make his Durham first-class debut having joined the Club on loan for the remainder of the season ahead of his permanent move from Gloucestershire.

Emilio Gay is Durham’s leading run scorer with 941 while Ben Raine’s is the leading wicket taker with 39 poles to his name.

Words from Ryan Campbell

It would have been easy to let the frustration get to you on the last day last week when the game was so heavily interrupted by the weather. I thought the application of our batters was really good and we had a bit of that old spark back – which is really exciting.

We are currently two points behind Hampshire and there are a few other teams who are not far away either – there are 1000s of ways that could unfold in this final round of games but the number one priority is that we must play good cricket and if we play in good cricket the rest will look after itself.

It’s been really important to get the balance right with training ahead of the Yorkshire game, our fast bowlers had a bit of a torrid affair [against Worcestershire] and we have some good young bowlers in Archie Bailey, Danie Hogg and Luke Robinson who have got through a fair bit of cricket recently, so we have plenty of options.

We have to work out what is best for the week in Leeds, we always talk about the battle of the North, it’s going to be bloody good cricket so let’s see what happens.

 Squad v Yorkshire (24-27 September)

Colin Ackermann, Archie Bailey, David Bedingham, Graham Clark, Sam Conners, Emilio Gay, Shafiqullah Ghafari, Daniel Hogg, Alex Lees*, Ben McKinney, Callum Parkinson, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Will Rhodes, Ollie Robinson+
