13 in contention for Durham UCCE warm-up clash

A 13-player squad has been named to face Durham UCCE starting tomorrow [11am] at Seat Unique Riverside, in a three-day warm up fixture.

Following Durham’s successful pre-season tour to Zimbabwe, Durham will get back to match action tomorrow for the first time since their three weeks in Harare.

The annual fixture against Durham University will get underway at 11am tomorrow, with Ben McKinney captaining a side made up of senior and youth players.

Luke Robinson, Daniel Hogg and Haydon Mustard are four of the youngsters who are in line to feature tomorrow, while senior players in Paul Coughlin, Colin Ackermann and Matthew Potts are all in the 13.

Brandon Glover remains out with a shoulder injury and continues his rehabilitation after recently having shoulder surgery.

Words from Ryan Campbell

The weather has been pretty disastrous over the last few weeks, since we’ve returned from Zimbabwe it has been tough to head back inside, but that is the way things are. The ground staff have done a great job, under the covers, it looks quite hard, the bowlers have been out and had a bowl through and the wicket for this week looks in pretty good stead.

We have a lot to prove this year and lots of individuals have got stuff to play for, there is still lots of positions up for grabs and the facts are we still haven’t picked out 11 yet for the first game, so this week is a great opportunity for everyone, and the guys are all egar to get out there.

We have had some niggles in the squad, which unfortunately has been for the batters which is quite unique for us in Jones, Clark and Borthwick, but they are all close now and hopefully should all be in contention for the game against Hampshire.

Squad v Durham UCCE [26-28 March]

Colin Ackermann, Jonathan Bushnell, Paul Coughlin, Bas de Leede, George Drissell, Oliver Gibson, Daniel Hogg, Michael Jones, Ben McKinney*, Haydon Mustard+, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine. Luke Robinson.
