Junior Cricket Format Recommendations U9s - 11s

Over the last three years, ECB have been engaged in extensive research into how we can help children (under-9s – 11s) develop the skills that will stay with them for life, alongside helping them to understand the most important part of the game: fun.

As a result of the thorough research, ECB have published Junior Cricket Format Recommendations for Under-9, Under-10 and Under-11 teams, designed to help clubs and coaches create a playing experience that will increase players’ enjoyment and put fun at the heart of the sport.

In Durham, we have decided to adopt the recommendations at every level of the game – from Junior League to county level – to provide consistent experience for all children regardless of where they play.

Free Workshop for Coaches

To help clubs adopt the recommendations, we have organised a free coaching workshop, available to coaches and volunteers working with under-9 and/ or under-11 teams.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 6 March at Emirates Riverside Indoor Cricket Centre from 6.00pm until 8.00pm. To register, click the link below.

Junior Cricket Format Recommendations

Our overall aim is to:

• Help children to enjoy a great experience of cricket for their age and ability (under 9-11s)

• Help cricket clubs thrive by growing and maintaining their junior sections

• Give children (and parents) confidence that they are playing the appropriate formats which will help them develop their skills and game play experience
