Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that three young cricketers have signed rookie deals with the club ahead of the 2027 season.
Robbie Bowman, Charlie Harmison and Luke Symington have put pen to paper on rookie deals running to at least the end of the 2027 season.
The trio have all progressed through the Durham pathway before making their Academy and 2XI debuts in recent years and have all represented England Under 19s this season.
Bowman who made his List A debut for Durham in 2025 – signed a short-term rookie deal last summer having made four professional appearances and now extends for a full year with the County.
The wicket-keeper batter has enjoyed a strong summer for Durham Under 18s and for his club side Burnmoor, scoring 1407 runs with a best of 180 against Leicestershire in the Under 18 Championship, while he smashed 122 for the England Young Lions Invitational side.
Top order batter Luke Symington amassed 925 runs representative runs for Durham Under 18s and Hartlepool this campaign, making 11 Second XI appearances with a top score of 93*.
The 18-year-old led the England Young Lions Invitational side against both England and South Africa scoring 52 from 38 balls in the opener against England.
Right-arm quick bowler Charlie Harmison has represented Northumberland through the age groups going onto sign his first Academy contract in 2025.
The Ashington born quick made his England Under 19s debut in May against South Africa and has made four appearances for Durham Second XI.
Men’s Head Coach Ryan Campbell said: “We are very pleased to announce that three of our Academy players have signed rookie contracts with us.
“This group of young players have had a successful journey through our pathway and Academy and thoroughly deserve their opportunity to join our professional squad.
“We look forward to supporting their development further during the next 12 months.”
On his deal, Symington said: “I’m delighted to have signed my first professional rookie contract with Durham.
“Becoming a professional cricketer is something I’ve always dreamt of, and I’ve worked hard towards becoming for a long time.
I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity Durham have given me and can’t wait to get going with the rest of the squad.”
Bowman added: “I’m really happy to sign the deal with Durham, all the hard work over the years has paid off.
“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to learn off the professional players and can’t wait to get started during pre-season.”
Harmison said: “I’m buzzing to have signed my first rookie deal with the club.
“I’m looking forward to the hard work that lies ahead and hopefully contributing to helping the club to success in years to come.”a
