Day 1: Durham Second XI 23/1 vs Nottinghamshire 335
Durham Second XI enjoyed a positive day with the ball, dismissing Nottinghamshire for 335 at Darlington Cricket Club.
Daniel Hogg got Durham off to a strong start after Haydon Mustard elected to bowl first at Feethams, dislodging off stump twice to reduce the visitors to 20 for two.
Farhan Ahmed and Henry Rogers put on 96 for the third wicket before James Minto took off peg out of the ground for the third occasion to dismiss Rogers on 29.
Ahmed struck 14 fours as he made 78 before departing with the score on 150.
JA Beer’s 58 and 36 for Dominic Kelly alongside him saw Notts pass 200 but the fall of four wickets inside nine overs had them 234 for eight.
Two late partnerships saw Nottinghamshire post 335 in the end with SM Sheikh ending unbeaten on 42 while Travis Holland added 39.
Wickets were spread around in the Durham attack with Daniel Hogg taking 3/48 while George Drissell and Shafiqullah Ghafari took two apiece.
Alan Walker’s side had eight overs to bat on the opening day, closing on 23 for one with Haydon Mustard the only wicket to fall.
