Women in Sport Night Returns to Banks Homes Riverside

Durham Cricket is set to celebrate women’s sport once again as Women in Sport Night returns to Banks Homes Riverside on Friday 3 July at 6.30 pm.

The special fixture will see Durham Women take centre stage in a standalone fixture against Lancashire Thunder, with the evening dedicated to celebrating female athletes, teams and supporters from across the region.

The event aims to bring together women from all sports to enjoy a night of cricket while recognising the growing impact of women’s sport at every level.

Celebrating women’s sport

Women in Sport Night is an opportunity to highlight the strength, talent and community that exists across the women’s sporting landscape. Clubs and teams from all sports are encouraged to attend, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere around the ground.

Teams that attend as a group will also have the opportunity to submit a team photo ahead of the match. Selected images will be shown on the big screen during the evening, giving clubs the chance to see themselves celebrated in front of the Banks Homes Riverside crowd.

A social summer evening

The matchday will also feature a relaxed and social atmosphere, with a number of themed spaces around the ground for supporters to enjoy.

Fans will be able to spend time in the Pimm’s Garden, offering a classic summer setting to catch up with friends, while the Tanqueray Shed will provide another stylish spot for supporters to enjoy a drink before and during the match.

The evening is designed to be a fun and welcoming environment where groups of friends, teammates and supporters can come together to celebrate women’s sport while enjoying top-level cricket.

Support Durham Women

With Durham Women taking centre stage in their 2026 standalone fixture, the night provides a fantastic opportunity for supporters to get behind the team and experience the excitement of live T20 cricket.

The club hopes the event will inspire even more people to follow and support the women’s game while celebrating the many female athletes who represent clubs and communities across the region.

Women in Sport Night promises a lively atmosphere, great cricket and a celebration of women across sport.

Clubs, teams and supporters are encouraged to gather their teammates, submit their team photos and come along to show their support for Durham Women on Friday, 3 July at 6.30 pm at Banks Homes Riverside.
