Durham Cricket highly commended at 2025 North East England Tourism Awards

Durham Cricket are delighted to have been Highly commended in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Category at the North East of England Tourism Awards 2025.

The club were recognised for the work they have carried out on the venue facilities as well as working with organisations from across the region to make Cricket more accessible to all.

Durham Cricket is aiming to become one of the most accessible cricket venues in the country with a number of upgrades made to the ground over the past two years. New facilities include a sensory room, multifaith space, changing places space as well as designated family stand and alcohol free stands.

Staff have also undertaken training on topics such as diversity, LGBTQ+, neurodiversity and accessibility  to ensure they are able to be welcoming and helpful to all.

The Club have also worked closely with a number of organisations such as Young Asian Voices, Durham Pride, Handcrafted,  Schools and recreational clubs to make tickets accessible and ensure everyone feels welcome and included in Cricket across the region.
