Jets gear up for Blast with two local friendlies

Durham Jets will warm up for this year’s Vitality Blast with two fixtures against high quality local league sides.

The Jets will face off against a North Yorkshire & South Durham (NYSD) side on Monday, 2 July before taking on a North East Premier League (NEPL) side the day after.

The NYSD match takes place at Hartlepool CC, starting at 5:30pm, while the NEPL match is being staged at Ropery Lane, the home of Chester-le-Street CC, also a 5:30pm start.

Both games are free of charge & are a chance to see the Jets close up before the first Vitality Blast match against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley on Thursday, 5 July.

Durham’s head coach, Jon Lewis, is looking forward to some valuable white ball practice ahead of the 14-game North Group campaign.

“We needed the chance to put our T20 skills into practice before the tournament starts & this gives us ideal preparation before Yorkshire,” Lewis said.

“While they’re both friendly matches in one sense, we’ll be taking the games very seriously. It’s no secret that Club cricket up here is extremely strong & we’re expecting to come up against two very good sides.

“It will also give me chance to assess the options I’ve got within the squad & give lads a chance to impress before the tournament begins.”
