Dynamos top Group C table after Foxes win

A rain shower delayed the start of play with the game eventually starting at 2.09pm and the overs reduced to 37 per team.

Durham lost Phil Mustard in the first over after he was caught behind by Tom New off the bowling of Sam Cliff.   Ben Harmison and Ian Blackwell then put on 50 from 58 balls with the latter caught behind off White for 35, leaving Durham 77-1.

Harmison (40*) and Will Smith (11*) were at the crease when showers halted play at 3.26pm.  Efforts to get back on were hampered a couple of times with the rain starting each time the teams assembled to resume play.
The game finally got underway again at 5.11pm with overs reduced to 26 per side, leaving Durham seven overs left of their innings.

Smith and Harmison returned to the crease with Durham 92-2.  Harmison made it to 45 before he was stumped by New off Henderson, at which point the visitors were 98-3.

With a sense of urgency towards the end of the Durham innings skipper Will Smith, who kept his wicket in tact, scored a 33 ball fifty, which included four boundaries.

Durham posted a total of 156-4 and, with the D/L Method taken into account, Leicester were set a total of 176 for victory although it did come to light that this had been miscalculated and that 181 was the actual required total.  However, as the hosts innings had commenced by the time the error was uncovered the original target was kept in place.

The Foxes were 23-2 within three overs with all rounder Will Gidman picking up both scalps, first du Toit was caught at mid wicket by Luke Evans for 9 and then Taylor was clean bowled for 6.

Will Jefferson top scored for Leicester with 45 he was caught behind, becoming the first of Ben Harmison’s two victims.  Nixon fell shortly after on 22 after a superb one handed catch from Ben Stokes at deep mid wicket , leaving the batting side 87-4.

They added ten to the total before their overseas player, Andrew McDonald, was bowled by Rushworth for 6.  Will Gidman, bowling from the Bennet Road End, pulled up four balls into his fourth over after landing awkwardly on his ankle and left the field, with Ian Blackwell completing the over on his behalf and substitute Scott Borthwick replacing him on the field.

With four overs remaining Leicester were 128-5, requiring 176 for the win.  They  were 132-6 once Tom New was caught by Muchall off Harmison for 18.  Rushworth bowled Claude Henderson for 3 to claim his third wicket of the match.

Wayne White was out for 36 in the last over, another fantastic catch from Stokes at deep mid wicket, this time off the bowling of Blackwell, saw the youngster deflect  the ball from going for six before taking the catch with a second attempt.

Durham won the match by 21 runs (D/L Method) and the two points they won put them at the top of the table in group C.
