The World of Cricket donates thousands of Wickets For Troops

Durham CCC have donated tickets for the One Day International with Pakistan on the 10th September and to every home Twenty20 Match of the Durham Dynamos.

In recognition of the extraordinary work of our Armed Forces, Britain’s cricket clubs have included over 400 days of cricket within their donation to Tickets for Troops. With such a good geographical spread of participating cricket clubs, location need not be an issue with a club sure to be close by.

Tickets For Troops was set up last year to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events including football, horse racing, rugby, darts and cricket matches as well as theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions.  Since launching it has provided over 100,000 tickets and 50,000 troops have registered on the website – www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk

This noble initiative has attracted maximum support from a host of Patrons, including Dame Vera Lynn, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, and James Blunt.

Patron Sir Ian Botham said: “Let’s get behind our troops, let’s give them some support and let’s show them just how much we appreciate the dangerous job they do for us.”

Durham would like to further show their pride in the troops that serve the country with a Help the Hero day based around Durham Dynamos Twenty20 match against Worcester Royals on Sunday 6th June at Riverside. More details of this event will be released shortly.
