Our Governance
Durham Cricket Foundation is a registered charity, responsible for using cricket to deliver social impact across our region. Although we have been operating since 2009, we formally merged with the Durham Cricket Board on 1 June 2024 to create a single, clearer structure with stronger accountability.
We are led by an independent Board of Trustees who oversee our strategy, finances and overall impact. Our aim is to be transparent, accountable and well-run, so that every programme we deliver makes a positive difference.
Our Board
The Board is made up of 10 members who bring experience from sport, business, community development and safeguarding. The Board is chaired by Mike Smith, who leads the trustees, ensures decisions are made collectively and represents the Board between meetings.
How we work
- The Board meets every 6–8 weeks and holds an AGM each year
- A Finance & Remuneration Committee monitors spending and reporting
- An EDI Committee ensures our work is inclusive and representative
- A Nominations Committee leads trustee recruitment
- A Cricket Committee brings clubs, leagues and staff together to share insight and align activity
Our Team
Behind every programme, event, school visit and community session is a committed team of specialists who believe in the power of cricket to change lives.
The Durham Cricket Foundation team brings together coaches, safeguarding professionals, community workers, fundraisers, communicators and programme leads. Their backgrounds are different, but their purpose is shared: to make cricket welcoming, accessible and positive for everyone.
Leadership & structure
The Foundation is led by our Chief Executive Graeme Weeks, supported by managers responsible for strategy, participation, safeguarding, inclusion, fundraising, operations and communications. Together they plan programmes, support staff and ensure our work is delivered to a high standard.
