Disability Cricket Camps
Durham Cricket Foundation is welcoming participants to FREE Disability Cricket Camps at Banks Homes Riverside Ground during the School Holidays.
The two-hour camps are suitable to children and young people with disabilities, aged 7-25 and are a great way to have a go at the game for the first time in a safe and inclusive environment. All disabilities are welcome and the activity is adjusted to fit every participant and their needs.
Dates and Locations
Durham Cricket Foundation is hosting three camps at the home of Durham Cricket, Banks Homes Riverside in Chester-le-Street on 22 July, 5 August and 19 August.
We’re also running sessions at two of our ECB Disability Cricket Champion Clubs: South Shields Cricket Club on 12 August and Silksworth Cricket Club on 30 July.
Each camp runs from 10am to 12 noon, and participants are welcome to book onto multiple dates if they’d like.
More information about the camps
The sessions focus on fostering new skills, enhancing coordination, making new friends, and most importantly, having fun. We’ve structured our activities to cater to all abilities and needs.
Participants will learn the basic skills of the game through fun games in batting, bowling and fielding, while improving balance and hand/eye coordination. The activities will offer something for everyone, but most of all, it will be a unique experience to play at the home of Durham Cricket.
Our days will provide a platform for children and young people with disabilities to boost their sporting and social skills, and increase their self-esteem and confidence in a friendly and supportive environment.
Cricket equipment will be provided for everyone, so participants won’t need anything other than drinks and enthusiasm.
Led by Durham Cricket's Coaching Staff
The two-hour camps will be led by Durham Cricket’s coaches, who are all experienced in working with all disabilities regardless of ability while helping each participant to achieve and enhance their skills at their own pace.
