Michael Jones ended the 2020 season on a high, scoring his maiden First-Class half century against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, with a well-made 82.

Playing in his fifth First-Class game, Jones batted superbly, spending 251 minutes in the middle. facing 224 balls with eight fours, against a strong Nottinghamshire side.

Having progress through Lancashire Academy, Jones has been a regular squad member of the clubs second team since 2017 and has proven the solid batsman he is over that period.

Jones scored an unbeaten 120* for Scotland A against Durham, with an attack that featured England quick, Mark Wood, which saw him catch the attention of the Durham coaching staff.

He has represented Scotland on the international stage on a number of occasions.  In the December 2019 ICC World Cup League 2 he scored 52 in the first match of the competition against USA in the UAE.

Jones is a talented top order batter and will once again be looking to push into the first eleven for the 2021 season. He currently plays his club cricket at Tynemouth in the North East Premier League and scored 262 runs from just five games in the 2020 season, with a best of 89 against Gateshead Fell.
