Durham CCC secures England v Australia ODI for 2012

Emirates Durham was initially scheduled to host two NatWest One Day Internationals in 2011. against Sri Lanka and India, with no England international fixtures expected to take place in the North East in 2012.

Now, in 2011, the Region will only welcome India, presently ranked second in the world, in a NatWest ODI on Saturday 3rd September, an Australian NatWest ODI in 2012 and in 2013, will host the iconic Ashes Test Match staged in the North East for the first time.

Durham CCC Chairman, Clive W Leach CBE said,” We are committed to bringing regular world class cricket to Emirates Durham ICG and by only focussing on England v India in 2011, we are giving our members and our north east supporters the opportunity to watch international cricket every year, including England playing Australia in the one day and test match formats, instead of having no international cricket at the stadium in 2012.”

“We are always looking to develop our long term strategy with regard to the hosting of international events and this is a fantastic chance for us to engrain our venue as a front runner in the annual cricket calendar. To have England v Australia playing in the North East two years running, is a very creditable achievement by the Club.”

Tickets for the Natwest One Day International between England and India at Emirates Durham ICG on Saturday 3rd September 2011 go on general sale from 9.00am on Monday 1 November.
