This competition is open to anyone and is really easy to enter. Simply text ‘BALL’ and your name to 82100 to be in with a chance of winning. 

Three lucky winners will be selected at random for each home t20 match and they will take in part in a semi final event. Each semi finalist will get two attempts to bowl over the stumps during the interval of the match. If you manage to hit you will go through to the final on Sunday 18th July, during our final home match of the season. 

The winners from each semi final will then be confronted by a new cricketing challenge during the Dynamos final t20 match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks with one winner in with the chance of winning £10,000.

To enter the competition simply text ‘BALL’ and your name to 82100. 

Please read these terms and conditions (Terms) carefully. They set out the terms under which you may access and enter the First Ball of the Game Competition (Competition). The Competition is owned and operated by Durham County Cricket Club Holdings Limited, Riverside, Chester-le-Street, Durham, DH3 3QR (registered company number 05238857) (Promoter). The agreement set out in these terms is made between you (Competitor) and the Promoter.

1. The Competition

1.1 By entering into the Competition the Competitor agrees and acknowledges that they have read and accepted these Terms and that they apply to the Competitor entering into the Competition.
1.2 Entries shall be submitted by texting the word BALL plus your name to 82100. 
1.3 Entrants may make as many entries into the Competition as they wish.
1.4 Texts will be charged at standard network rate (10-12p)
1.5 All recipients will receive one bounceback on each day that they enter the competition
1.6 Durham CCC Holdings Ltd may contact you at time to time with further information and offers
1.7 Use of a false name or the provision of any other false, inaccurate or misleading information by Competitors will automatically lead to disqualification from the Competition.
1.8 The Promoter shall have in any event an absolute discretion to disqualify any Competitor who has entered the Competition at any time without providing a reason or giving any notice to the disqualified Competitor.
1.9 The Promoter’s decision with respect to disqualification of a Competitor will be final and no correspondence will be entered into between the Promoter and the disqualified Competitor.

2. Opening/Closing Date and Time

2.1 The Competition commences on Tuesday 1st June 2010.  Entries must be received by 12:00 noon on Tuesday 13th July.  Entries received after the closing time on the closing date will not be entered into the Competition.

3. Selection of the Competitors for Each Game

3.1 Three competitors will be chosen at 5:00pm on the day before each Friends Provident t20 game.
3.2 The seven home FP t20 games are as follows:
– Friday 4th June
– Sunday 6th June
– Monday 14th June
– Friday 18th June
– Sunday  20th June
– Friday 2nd July
– Wednesday 14th July

4. Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to be the winner, Competitors must meet the following eligibility criteria:
4.1 Competitors must be a resident of the UK and hold a valid passport;
4.2 Competitors must be 18 years or over at the date of entering the Competition;
4.3 Employees of Durham CCC Holdings Ltd, their agents or their families may not enter the competition.
4.4 Competitors must not be professional (current or former) cricket players or semi professional (current or former) cricket players.
5. First Ball of the Game Competition
5.1 The three competitors will be given two attempts each the bowl a cricket ball that hits the stumps.
5.2 Cricket balls must be bowled over arm and within the rules of the game of cricket.
5.3 All competitors that hit the stumps will return to Finals Day on Sunday 18th July

6. Finals Day

6.1 All competitors that qualify for Finals Day will be given the full rules as to how they can win £10,000 fifteen minutes before they come on to the pitch to compete

7. Prize

7.1 There will be a maximum of one prize winner of £10,000
7.2 Should all competitors fail in the final challenge there will be no prize distributed.
7.3 Prizes are subject to restrictions and to the terms and conditions of the prize providers and where applicable, to the relevant cricket association, including but not limited to any applicable tickets terms and conditions and/or stadium codes of conduct.  Other restrictions may apply. 
7.4 The prizes are subject to the Promoter managing to contact the relevant Winners from the First Ball of the Game competition and receiving confirmation of eligibility. 
7.5 There are no alternative prizes and the prize is non-transferable and non-changeable. 
7.6 The Promoter reserves the right to vary any element of the prizes due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. 
7.7 To the fullest extent permitted by the law, the Promoter is not liable for any costs, liabilities, damages, losses or for any medical conditions aggravated or incurred by any Winner, Runners Up or where applicable, their companions, when taking up the prize.  
7.8 The Winner, Runners Up and their companions shall be required to provide proof of age and eligibility to the Promoter or any of their agents or representatives.
7.9 The Winners will be contacted by the Promoter on or after the Competition judging date on the telephone number they provided when entering the Competition.  Reasonable efforts will be made to contact a Winners.  Failure to respond or provide an address for delivery of the prize, or failure to meet the eligibility requirements as set out in these Terms, and elsewhere as applicable, may result in forfeiture of the prizes.  If any Winner cannot be contacted, or is unable to comply with these Terms, then the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prizes to alternative Competitors at its sole discretion.
7.10 The Winner agrees and consents to being interviewed on video and/or audio recorded on tape (“the Recording”) and grant to the Promoter (and their licensees and assigns) all necessary rights and consents for the full period of copyright (and afterwards so far as possible in perpetuity) to copy, edit and/or use at its sole discretion any copyright material included in the Recording and the Winner irrevocably and unconditionally waives any “moral rights” in such copyright material or any part of it that the Competitor has or may acquire in relation to such copyright material and/or the Recording.

8. Standard Terms

8.1 The Promoter acknowledges its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 and to use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that any personal information and/or data it holds are kept secure.  However due to the nature of the Internet the Promoter cannot accept any liability for those who intentionally attempt to and/or gain unauthorised access to the Competition (save to the extent required by law). 
8.2 Information and data which is provided by Competitors (Personal Data)  may be used by the Promoter for the following purposes:
 the operation of the Competition and any associated uses including but not limited to publicity of the Competition; and
 marketing new promotions, competitions, products and services;
8.3 The Promoter shall be entitled to transfer the Personal Data to any third party with whom the Promoter shares data.
8.4 The Company reserves the right to transfer the Personal Data to any third party who is a purchaser or prospective purchaser of the Promoter of all or any of the assets of the Promoter.
8.5 The Promoter reserves the right to forward the Personal Data to the police or any other relevant third party in order to comply with the law.
8.6 Other than as set out in these Terms the Personal Data will not be disclosed or used by the Promoter.
8.7 Personal Data will be held and may be used by the Promoter to send information of services or offers that may be of interest to that Competitor from time to time or to pass that Competitor’s data to carefully selected third parties.  By submitting an entry into this Competition, Competitors consent to their Personal Data being used in this way. If Competitors do not consent to their Personal Data being used in this way they must inform the Promoter at the time of entering the Competition or by emailing marcoms@durhamccc.co.uk or by writing to Durham County Cricket Club, County Ground, Riverside, Chester le Street, County Durham, DH3 3QR.

8.9 Nothing in these Terms restricts the Competitors’ statutory rights as consumers.  Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit the Promoter’s or the Emirates Group’s liability for death or personal injury caused by their staff or supplier’s negligence or for fraud.
8.10 Save to the extent required by law no representations or warranties are made by the Promoter in respect of the Competition, of its content or any of the prizes available through it.  All liability of the Promoter however arising from any loss suffered as a result of the Competitors entry into the Competition is expressly excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8.11 The Promoter is not responsible for any damage or loss caused to any Competitor where such damage or loss is not reasonably foreseeable to the Competitor and to the Promoter when the Competitor agrees to these Terms (which occurs automatically when the Competitor enters the Competition), including where the damage or loss results from the Promoter’s breach of these Terms.  The Promoter does not accept liability for any damage or loss caused to a Competitor where the Competitor is not entering into these Terms as a consumer. 
8.12 These Terms shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and the Competitor irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
8.13 The Promoter reserves the right to vary the prize and these terms and conditions at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to the actions or omissions of third parties which prevent the Promoter from running the Competition according to these Terms.
8.14 The Company reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any time and in such event will place a notice that the Competition has been cancelled on the Durham County Cricket Club website.
8.15 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for inaccurate prize details supplied by the Promoter, and/or any other third party.
